FOR LABOUR STUDENTS LONDON
Hi, I’m Nimah. I’m standing to be your London Rep for Labour Students committee to build a student wing that defends our marginalised members and provides the resources we need to advocate for a socialist alternative.
The need for a free, decolonised education system has never been more vital. Starting university just before the pandemic taught me the power of students when we organise. From supporting UCU strikes, facilitating political education, to organising rent strikes we need to resist this failed system of neoliberal profiteering.
As chair of Queen Mary Labour club I know how important inclusive spaces are for students to connect, organise and resist. As your London Rep, I will bring Labour clubs from across the city together to build communities based on solidarity and socialist solutions.
The consequences of over a decade of Tory austerity, rising barriers to entering higher education, and the mental health crisis – all exacerbated by the pandemic – has left many students alienated and disillusioned. Universities and politicians have failed us. It’s our job as Labour students to fight back.
I’m proud to be standing with the support of Momentum and trade unionists to fight for a socialist future.
