I’m standing to be Chair of Labour Students to build a liberated, campaigning, and socialist student wing.

A year ago I was elected as your Student Rep on Young Labour’s national committee to create a new democratic student wing. We delivered that promise - giving every member a vote in these elections, running organising schools across the country, supporting UCU and student rent strikes.

My experience of education hasn’t been easy - a system that puts metrics above mental health, money above learning and profit above livelihoods, has pushed us to breaking point. But history shows that when the labour and student movements stand together we can change everything.

Together let’s build a Labour Students that fights for free, decolonised and democratised education; stands with our marginalised comrades and takes on Tory divide and rule with socialist answers - from a £15 minimum wage to a Green New Deal.

Where the old Labour Students built careers, we’ll build solidarity - supporting Labour Clubs at colleges and universities with the skills and resources to win power on our campuses, workplaces, and communities.

I’m proud to be standing with the support of Momentum and trade unionists to fight for a socialist future.

My experience of education hasn’t been an easy one. It's been a difficult one but through my university Labour Club I learnt the power of solidarity. Standing with striking staff, electing socialists and fighting for free education showed me the strength of the labour and student movements united.

As marketisation pushes students and staff to breaking point, students are loaded with unpayable debts, rinsed for exorbitant rent, and pushed into precarious low-paid work. Our universities invest the value squeezed from students and staff in apartheid, war and climate breakdown as the Tory Government cracks down on resistance and educational freedom.

We need a Labour Students which leads the fightback - building on our work supporting student rent strikes, UCU strikes and international solidarity. A Labour Students which campaigns for a free, decolonised and democratised education, and works to organise student workers hit by the cost-of-living crisis in their trade unions.

Together let’s build a democratic Labour Students which supports Clubs with socialist political education, welcomes marginalised students and gives us the organising skills to win power on our campuses, on the picket line and at the ballot box.

Fight for a socialist future. Join the campaign.
