Fraser McGuire

My name is Fraser McGuire- I’m 18 and live in the Derbyshire Dales. I am standing for East Midlands Young Labour representative as a proud socialist and because I believe that I can bring accountability, transparency and passion to this role.

If elected East Midlands Young Labour rep I will ensure that all young members in the East Midlands get opportunities to become more active in the party and pick up valuable campaigning and community organising skills- by running more training sessions and social events. I will work hard to ensure that all East Midlands Young Labour events are as inclusive as possible to make sure everyone feels safe and welcome.

I have experience as both youth officer and vice-chair of my CLP, and I know how difficult it can be for some young members to get involved in their local area- so if elected I will ensure that support is available for young members to start their own campaigns on local issues and to set up new young labour branches and revitalise pre-existing ones as I believe it is a critical time to encourage more young people to speak up and take an active role in politics.

Additionally, I will campaign to increase youth participation in trade unions and the broader labour movement in the East Midlands, as I have witnessed first-hand the low paid and precarious work conditions that many young people experience. I firmly believe that radical and transformative change is needed, not just in Parliament but within our communities and workplaces in order to set us on the path to society based on the principles of fairness and equality.

I’m proud to be standing with the support of Momentum and trade unionists to fight for a socialist future.

Fight for a socialist future. Join the campaign.
