Hareem Ghani

Hi! My name is Hareem Ghani (she/her), I’m a mature student at KCL and I’m running for Labour Students Ordinary Rep to build a liberated, campaigning and socialist student wing.

Over the last seven years, I have successfully campaigned on a broad range of issues on a local, national and international level. During my time at KCL, I secured free sanitary products on campus, co-founded the ‘It Stops Here’ anti-harassment campaign and provided bursaries for students attending the ‘Shut Down Yarl’s Wood’ demonstrations.

As Women’s Officer for the National Union of Students (NUS), I commissioned research into the experiences of Muslim students in further and higher education, co-organised the ‘Preventing Prevent: Students Not Suspects’ tour to challenge the draconian Prevent Duty and allocated £7,000 in bursaries for students eligible to vote in the referendum to repeal the Eighth Amendment.

Throughout my time in student organising, I have fought for a free, liberated and radical education system. If elected as your Ordinary Rep, I’ll extend this socialist vision to the new Labour Students by leading the fight against unethical investment, marketisation and surveillance.

I’m proud to be standing with the support of Momentum and trade unionists to fight for a socialist future.

Fight for a socialist future. Join the campaign.
