Time and time again, LGBT+ members have been let down by the Labour Party – whether that’s by the Party ignoring demands to support policies that would be helpful to our LGBT+ members, or elected representatives making harmful and offensive comments about trans people and other members of the LGBT+ community.

Young LGBT+ members in this Party deserve a representative that will stand up for their rights, regardless of political faction, gender identity, or sexuality, and I believe that person is me. As a queer young woman, I was proud to host the only Young Labour LGBT event at Labour Conference in Brighton last year.

Both my socialist and LGBT+ politics were inspired by the leading example of Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners, who forged solidarity with striking mineworkers, making explicit the links between class struggle and queer liberation, a precedent I will ensure Young Labour emulates and builds upon. If elected, I would push the Leadership to commit to socialist policies and rules that would advance LGBT+ rights and stand up for trans young people.

I’m proud to be standing with the support of Momentum and trade unionists to fight for a socialist future.

Fight for a socialist future. Join the campaign.
