I’m Owen, and I’m standing to be Eastern Rep on Young Labour’s committee to build an empowered, campaigning, socialist youth wing.
As secretary of UEA Labour Society and a member of the Party’s National Policy Forum, I have mobilised hundreds of young people to campaign for a transformative Labour manifesto and fought for socialist policies to be the centre of Labour’s programme for government. With young people set to be hit hardest by the cost of living crisis, a Green New Deal, nationalised utility services and a national living wage cannot become forgotten manifesto pledges.
As your Eastern Rep, I will use this experience to establish a strong labour network in our region to deliver political education, skill sharing and develop resources to help us win power. We must revitalise Young Labour groups with socialist activists to lead grassroots campaigns on issues affecting us; demanding rent controls, scrapping of tuition fees, a £15 an hour minimum wage, social housing and more. I will work alongside comrades in the trade union movement to deliver a Young Labour that works and wins.
I am proud to be standing with the support of Momentum and Trade Unionists to fight for a socialist future.
