Samuel Cohen

My name is Sam, and I’m standing to be Under 18’s Rep on the Young Labour National Committee. The last few years in Labour have been difficult and divisive. As the political wing of the trade unionist movement, we must come together to show solidarity with our unions, and organise young people in their workplaces. We need to build an empowered youth wing defending radical policy passed at previous conferences, from a Green New Deal to a £15 minimum wage to Palestinian liberation. We must fight the disgraceful rise in transphobia which has made Labour unbearable for LGBTQ+ comrades.

I will use my experience as CLP Youth Officer and Chair of Hertsmere Young Labour to harness the energy of under-18s organising across social justice movements to facilitate spaces of political education, skill sharing and resources; empowering Young Labour branches in their own communities. I’ll push to have the Young Labour conference, staff support and events we’re entitled to, and ensure as many as possible are under-18-inclusive.

As a proud Jewish socialist, I will stand for a radical, empowered, campaigning Young Labour. I’m proud to be standing with the support of Momentum and trade unionists to fight for a socialist future.

Fight for a socialist future. Join the campaign.
